“Go through that door and you’ll never come home.”
“Home? I wished on a star, for life beyond doubt, broken family and judgement. Home is monochrome; I dream in color. Goodbye, Auntie Em.”
This is for Trifecta’s prompt, to write 33 words of dialogue.
This sounds like a hopeful to begining and a poignant departure.

It would be fun to write a short story with this take on Dorothy and see where it goes.

What happened when you went through the door? Was it everything you thought it would be?

Me too! One of my favorites. When I was a kid it would come on TV about once a year and I would get so excited. Saw it in the theater for the first time a few months ago. On the big screen there were so many details that I never noticed before.

I like the ending…leaving can be hard, but sometimes a dream must be chased.

What an interesting perspective – I loved it. “Home is monochrome; I dream in color.” That’s a beautiful line.
